Research to promote proactive measures against volcanic disasters by residents.

Although Mt. Fuji is an active volcano, it is difficult to activate communicating risk concerning volcanic disasters because its frequency of eruptions is not high. Furthermore, there is a shortage of people who can take on the responsibility of regional disaster management due to the aging population and the increase in two-earner households. Therefore, online and face-to-face training tools using a disaster imagination game was developed for developing next generation leaders in voluntary disaster reduction groups against volcanic disasters. The tool was made available on the server of the Mount Fuji Research Institute, Yamanashi Prefectural Government.
