Research to promote proactive measures against volcanic disasters by residents.

Although Mt. Fuji is an active volcano, it is difficult to activate communicating risk concerning volcanic disasters because its frequency of eruptions is not high. Furthermore, there is a shortage of people who can take on the responsibility of regional disaster management due to the aging population and the increase in two-earner households. Therefore, online training tools using a disaster imagination game were developed for developing next generation leaders in voluntary disaster reduction groups against volcanic disasters. The effectiveness of these tools was verified through feedback obtained from workshops, which were held on November 28, 2020 and January 13, 15, and 17, 2021 with participants of the citizens of Fujiyoshida City and students at the Yamanashi Prefecture Yoshida Senior High School, respectively.
