Keio University concluded a collaboration agreement to mutually cooperate with Oita Prefecture Nakatsu City.
Based on an agreement concerning mutual collaboration between Nakatsu City and Keio University that was concluded on April 16, 2008, Keio University and Nakatsu City has been promoting regional development conducive to training human resources who will support future generations grounded on Yukichi Fukuzawa’s ideas regarding learning. In addition, the spirit of “practical learning” (jitsugaku) advocated by Fukuzawa in the first volume of his An Encouragement of Learning has been shared through mutual collaboration to expand activities that honor Fukuzawa’s legacy.
The collaborative agreement this time aims to further promote joint research, learning exchanges, and citizen participation in addition to the human resource and regional development hitherto undertaken through mutual cooperation in cultural, educational, and academic spheres following the opening in August 2019 of the “Shin-Nakatsu-shigakkō,” a joint research institute of Keio University and Nakatsu City which also serves as a facility for citizen learning and exchange.

Minaimsanriku Town(Miyagi Prefecture)

Keio University has concluded an agreement on collaboration and cooperation with Miyagi Prefecture Minamisanriku Town. The purpose of this agreement is to contribute toward mutual development and the enhancement of the regional community as well as education and research in the area through the use of cultural resources and the natural environment centered on forest resources possessed by Minamisanriku and Keio University as well as through collaboration and cooperation by both parties.
The "Shizugawa mountain forest" in Minamisanriku Town is one of the forests throughout Japan that Keio University owns, and it has been maintained and managed for approximately 50 years. With cooperation from the people of Minamisanriku Town, the forest has been used as a place for education and research. Immediately after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the "Minamisanriku Project" was launched, and over a period of 8 years, students, faculty, and staff members volunteered to support reconstruction and learning by making use of the Shizugawa mountain forest. Furthermore, in 2015, the forests owned by Minamisanriku Town and local forestry groups, and Keio University's Shizugawa mountain forest combined efforts to acquire the FSC certification, an international certification for the appropriate and sustainable management of forests that takes into account, among other, environmental, economic, and social factors. At the signing ceremony, it was confirmed that this agreement will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation between Minamisanriku Town and Keio University.

Keio University has concluded an agreement with Yamagata Prefecture and Yamagata Prefecture Tsuruoka City for a fifth term (AY 2019–2023) in order to jointly promote projects on research and educational activities centered around the Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University (Yamagata Prefecture Tsuruoka City; hereinafter IAB). Based on the results accumulated from various research and educational activities over the 18-year period since the first agreement was concluded in 2001 when the Tsuruoka Town Campus was established, such as research activities centered on metabolome analysis at IAB, educational activities accepting local senior high school students as "research assistants" and "special research students," and the setting up bio-ventures, we are striving to collaborate even more with the prefecture and city toward further regional revitalization.

Keio University has concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Okinawa Prefecture and GlaxoSmithKline K.K. regarding, among other things, the promotion of health and the medical information industry in Okinawa Prefecture. While aiming to create new values using data and ICT infrastructure, we will work to improve services in the areas of health and medical care for prefectural citizens through joint research projects relating to the promotion of health and improvement of medical care in Okinawa Prefecture in addition to contributing toward the revitalization of industries and furthering of regional development.

Keio University and Shizuoka Prefecture exchanged a basic agreement to promote collaboration and cooperation for Shizuoka Prefecture's "Advanced Agriculture Projects" with the aim of contributing to the regional community and human resource development through mutual cooperation in the areas of research, industry, education, and science in relation to the promotion of sciences, technologies, and industries that integrate agriculture, food, health, etc. To date, Keio University has used ICT in agriculture to cultivate citrus fruits in the Mikkabi region and strawberries in Izunokuni City of Shizuoka Prefecture, etc., to pass on "craftsmanship" and demonstrate and develop advanced research outcomes for its projects. This agreement further develops these collaborative partnerships.

In order to contribute to mutual development, Keio University and Shizuoka Prefecture concluded an agreement to promote Shizuoka Prefecture's "Advanced health industry accumulation project at the foot of Mount Fuji (Pharma Valley project)" with the aim of contributing to the development of human resources and the regional community by mutually cooperating in areas such as research, industrial development, education, and science through collaborations in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and engineering. This agreement is an extension of the agreement concluded on December 16, 2010, for the purpose of collaboration projects among medicine, nursing, and engineering.

British Olympic Association, Japanese Olympic Committee, City of Yokohama, and Kawasaki City

On February 8, 2016, the British Olympic Association, Japanese Olympic Committee, City of Yokohama, Kawasaki City, and Keio University signed a memorandum of understanding to provide training facilities for the British athletes prior to and during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as well as to further develop mutual partnerships. Furthermore, a "Signing ceremony for the Team GB Preparation Camp for Tokyo 2020" was held on March 23, 2017, where the three parties of Keio University, the City of Yokohama, and Kawasaki City each signed an agreement with the British Olympic Association on the use of facilities and partnerships covering the applicable facilities, periods of use, sport events, and exchange programs.

Keio University and Kawasaki City have concluded a basic agreement on collaboration and cooperation aimed at contributing to the promotion of regional communities, research, and industry by making use of the human, material, and intellectual resources possessed by both parties.
The conclusion of this agreement expands on the collaboration and cooperation formed between Keio University and Kawasaki City in 2000 to establish the Shin-Kawasaki Town Campus as well as contribute to other initiatives including those related to education, research, and society.
Under this agreement, Keio University opened the Tonomachi Town Campus at King Skyfront in Tonomachi, Kawasaki City, on April 1, 2016. In addition, a "collaboration agreement on the promotion of research and educational activities at the Keio University Tonomachi Town Campus" was concluded on April 11, 2016.

Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (Faculty of Policy Management, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Faculty of Nursing and Medical Care, Graduate School of Media and Governance, and Graduate School of Health Management; hereinafter SFC) and Kanagawa Prefecture Fujisawa City concluded a cooperation agreement on collaboration, etc., for the purpose of contributing to the development of regional communities, promotion of research and educational activities, and fostering of human resources.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of SFC and 70th anniversary since Fujisawa City was municipalized, in 2010, the two parties established a comprehensive cooperation system. Through this, we will strive to further develop the local community and create a world-class research and education base.

Kanagawa Kanagawa Prefecture City of Yokohama Kohoku Ward June1,2017 Graduate School of System Design and Management 1) For the Graduate School of System Design and Management lecture "System design and management training," the students, while learning among other things about the approaches, processes, and methods of system design, formed groups of roughly 5 members each and proposed and demonstrated concrete systems on the theme of "System design for revitalizing Minamihiyoshi shopping district." Each team, which consisted of a majority of working students along with new graduates with no work experience, identified issues for the Minamihiyoshi shopping district through open data, observations, interviews, etc., before realizing their own unique system designs and prototypes and demonstrating their effectiveness. Some teams are still continuing to collaborate. 2) In addition, at the Hiyoshidai Elementary School, video data and location information data using GPS for tag rugby and running were shown to students to help them discuss and understand the good and bad movements of themselves and others and how they can improve their performances, with the aim of increasing both interest and ability in sports using sports data. As a result, interest and ability in sports increased among many elementary school students. With full cooperation from the Athletic Association Rugby Football Club, it has become possible to provide more specialized advice and acquire and analyze more technical data, and the research findings are being used for the activities of the Keio Kids Performance Academy, which is held every Monday and Saturday evenings at the Shimoda rugby ground.

The campus is involved in the promotion of integrated research through industry-academia-public collaboration centered on production bases in 4 areas (intelligent drug discovery, quality assessment of regenerative and cellular medicine, data and information infrastructure Pe0PLe, medical devices and robotics), lectures open to the public, innovation schools, and the continuous development of innovation ecosystem leaders, from children to working adults, such as through the junior doctor development academy.
With Keio University at its core, this project was jointly proposed by the 4 local governments of Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the City of Yokohama, and Tokyo Prefecture Ota Ward; universities and research institutions (Kanagawa Institute of Industrial Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yokohama City University); and corporations (FUJIFILM Corporation, CYBERDYNE Inc.). It is conducting joint research with various institutions, including those around the Tonomachi district, and is contributing to the growth and development of the Tonomachi King Skyfront area.
