This initiative allowed participants to visualize the history and culture of Minato Ward and, leveraging the diversity of cooperating institutions, provided cross-disciplinary cultural programs. This was made possible through activities undertaken by the museum, which serves as a hub to make connections to modern society, and Keio University’s expertise. In AY 2024, five public events were conducted (Inclusive Workshop on Food History and Culture, Learning Workshop at the NHK Broadcasting Museum, Symposium on Gardens and Contemporary Art, Learning Workshop at a Temple, and Architecture Tour) as well as two working groups (Inclusive Working Group, Activity Evaluation Working Group).

detailsUnder the "Gokinjo Innovation School" project, in AY 2024, the conducting of practical research on methods for creating local communities through the operation of Shiba-no-ie and Gokinjo Innovation Lab Shimbashi (Minato Ward Shiba District regional project "Connecting neighborhood! A project for creating places for exchange" project base) was continued. Additionally, the human resources development course "Gokinjo Innovator Training Course" was held for the 12th time, and about 20 people, mainly those living or working in the Shiba district, took part. Collaborations among the projects have generated many personnel rotations, such as the students taking or those who have completed courses becoming involved with the bases or the regional activities in their neighborhood. (There is commissioned research being carried out under comprehensive collaborations. Furthermore, this research is still underway in AY 2025.)

detailsA disaster well system using groundwater has been installed on Shinanomachi Campus because there is a possibility that the tap water supply at the Keio University Hospital may become unavailable in the event of a disaster. By duplicating the water source, water supply is secured in the event of an emergency. Up to 10 tons is used daily as water for miscellaneous use (for air conditioning).

The Faculty of Pharmacy and University Community Pharmacy are collaborating with the Keio University Institute of Physical Education to host “wellness workshops” for the local community.
After students of the Faculty of Pharmacy take physical measurement of the participants, the exercise instructor leads the workshop through a variety of warmups, and followed by individual exercise routines (aerobics, pilates, table tennis, etc.).

detailsThe University Community Pharmacy and Faculty of Pharmacy’s Division of Social Pharmacy collaborated with Shiba Daijingu, a shrine located near the university, to hold in their prayer hall free health events aimed at local residents. Visitors were assisted by a pharmacist in various checkups, such as measuring their glucose and lipid levels using a blood sample from their fingertips and checking for cavities and periodontal disease using their saliva. Participants would then receive an explanation of their measurement results from the pharmacist. During the event, pharmacy students were in charge of guiding visitors. Through this event, the goal was to raise the health awareness of local residents and contribute to extending their healthy life expectancy.
