Community Impact in Action

On November 20, 2024, Katori City and the Keio Research Institute at SFC concluded a collaboration and cooperation agreement on rediscovering local strengths Katori is full of rich assets such as food, history and culture, and nature. Local development would require a resource-oriented mindset that makes full use of them. The main theme of this agreement centers on the concept of the “slow city” (Cittàslow). This is a regional development movement originating in Italy and seeks to enhance sustainability by making the most of local resources such as food, history, and culture. This agreement aims to create a “slow community” where people feel comfortable and happy to live in. Isagai Lab has been researching and putting into practice this concept of the “slow city.” Through this concept, it is hoped that collaboration between local people and students will rediscover new charms of Katori and help foster civic pride.
