A system equipped with a current velocity sensor developed for remote monitoring on the seas was installed in a fish pen at Uchiura Bay, Numazu City in Shizuoka Prefecture, with the aim of monitoring the occurrence of hypoxia and elucidating the mechanism of fish mortality in fish farms. The current velocity sensor is cylindrical in shape and measures the pressure distribution applied to the side of the cylinder when it is subjected to the currents in the sea. It utilizes machine learning to determine the velocity and direction of the currents.
