Osaki Town (Kagoshima Prefecture), Higashikawa Town (Hokkaido), and the Keio Research Institute at SFC concluded an agreement in November 2018, and have been promoting research and development of the "recycling international students project" to nurture the future of Japan and the world.
Under the advice and support of the Keio Research Institute at SFC, "Higashikawa style" was jointly created with Higashikawa Town as a cultural capital of photography in addition to the establishment of Japan's first public Japanese language school, leading to achievements in and experience of accepting international students from around the world. Combining this with the achievements in and experience of realizing a "town with the highest recycling rate in Japan for 12 consecutive years," which was accomplished by Osaki Town with the help of its residents and the staff of the local government through thorough sorting without relying on incineration, local government staff members of Osaki Town and Higashikawa Town are mutually collaborating to promote programs.
