Mutual cooperation project with Oita Prefecture Nakatsu City

In AY 2024, as in previous years, Keio collaborated with Nakatsu City in Oita Prefecture to hold the Nakatsu Citizen’s Lecture at the New Nakatsu City School, and the Nakatsu City Archives Lecture, which welcomed its 16th iteration. For the former, Keio cooperated with Nakatsu City officials to organize a lecture on “Fukuzawa Yukichi and His Disciples,” sending a lecturer to the first session on October 5. For the latter, the Nakatsu City Archives Lecture was held from August 27 for four nights and five days, with the Fukuzawa Memorial Institute for Modern Japanese Studies sending two lecturers and three TAs. Other joint research projects included a survey of the Tokujirō Obata collection at the Fukuzawa Yukichi Memorial Keio History Museum and a survey of Japanese, Chinese, and Western books from the late Edo to Meiji period at the Nakatsu City Library.
