From our base in Shizuoka Prefecture AOI-PARC, we are advancing research and development in agriculture-related fields utilizing ICT and advanced technology, while utilizing next-generation cultivation systems to facilitate the safe and secure, low-cost, and high-performance development of new strains of agricultural products and investigating efficient production methods. We are meanwhile promoting scientific verification to establish evidence regarding the functionality of agricultural product-derived ingredients toward the development of high-performance foods, aiming for health and longevity.
In AY 2022, Keio developed a smartphone application, TPOCast, for precise recording of farm operations. In addition, with the goal of eliminating plant infertility at high temperatures, which is predicted to occur as a result of global warming, mutant strains of thale cress (Arabidopsis thaliana) were subjected to screening for plant fertility at high temperatures. The presentation of the results of the AY 2022 project was held on Friday, March 17, 2023, 13:00 to 17:15, at Plaza Verde (convention complex in Numazu) and via livestreaming, where a report on “Screening of mutant strains for the creation of plants that eliminate infertility at high temperatures” was released.
