Although Mt. Fuji is an active volcano, it is difficult to activate communicating risk concerning volcanic disasters because its frequency of eruptions is not high. Furthermore, there is a shortage of people who can take on the responsibility of regional disaster management due to the aging population and the increase in two-earner households. Therefore, online and face-to-face training tools using a disaster imagination game was developed for developing next generation leaders in voluntary disaster reduction groups against volcanic disasters. The tool was made available on the server of the Mount Fuji Research Institute, Yamanashi Prefectural Government.

Yamanashi Prefecture, Fujiyoshida City

Yamanashi Prefecture, Fujiyoshida City, and Keio University concluded an agreement for the purpose of collaboration and cooperation in 2007, and by reviewing revitalization plans that make use of the local resources of Fujiyoshida City as well as those such as the world cultural heritage, history, and culture of Mount Fuji, nature, water, food, and agricultural products, as well as by continuously carrying out research on various practical models for solving regional issues, practical activities rooted in the region are being developed. In AY 2023, collaborations were formed for a "survey research on regional revitalization and population decline measures of Fujiyoshida City" and "survey research on the design of an attractive city for Fujiyoshida City." As part of these activities, students at SFC carried out fieldwork and promoted research study.
